DIY Lumpy Space Princess Nails

 

I have a nail polish that reminds me of LSP so I just thought I would go all out and put her on my nails. This is my first time doing LSP nails so they're definitely not perfect, but the idea was too cute to pass up. If you have nail polish pens it will probably be super easy for you. It's really simple so if you don't have the nail polish pens, you'll still be able to do this DIY very easily. :)

 

What you'll need:

-Base coat *optional* (I used 406C Protective Base Coat by wet n wild)*cruelty-free

-LSP purple nail polish (I used Sugar Plum by F21)*cruelty-free

-Yellow nail polish (I used 710 Sunny Days by Rimmel)

-Black nail polish (I used a black sharpie)

-Top coat (I used 401A Clear Nail Protector by wet n wild)*cruelty-free

-Dotting tool or toothpick

 

1. Apply base coat

 

 

2. Apply purple nail polish

 

I put a couple of drops of nail polish onto a napkin to dip my nail tools in. I think it helps a lot.

 

 

 I used the small side of my dotting tool.

You can also use a toothpick or anything you'd like.

 

3. Yellow star!

I make a dot where I want the star to be and then turn it into an "A"

Then I give the "A" arms :)

And VOILA! Yellow stars! This would be so easy if you had nail polish pens. I didn't have any though, but it worked out okay! I don't know if there are any cruelty-free brand nail polish pens but if there are any, I will probably purchase them. :)

 

4. Then I used a sharpie to go around the edges of my nail to give her, her signature LUMPS. You could also use a nail polish pen or your toothpick or dotting tool with black nail polish. :)

 

You can't really see them too well from the front but you can on the sides. If you have flatter nails or you make LSP smaller, you'll be able to see her lumps better.

 

5. Add your favorite LSP faces!

6. Apply a top coat and you're done! Oh my glob!

They're not perfect but I think they're cute anyways!

 

PS: The sharpie and nail polish around the sides of your nails will come off after washing your hands a few times, or you can use a q-tip and some nail polish remover! :)

Movie Monday!

Maleficent

 

Last Friday I went to the movies with my boyfriend and parents to see Maleficent. I knew that I would like the movie, but after seeing it I absolutely loved it. It's definitely a movie I would purchase and watch at home. Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent and she is an amazing, talented lady! I'm very glad they picked her for the role, I can't see anyone else being Maleficent. The movie shows Maleficent's side of the story and how she became a villain. It's a really good movie but it might be too scary for some children.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone

 

I have really been wanting to have a full Harry Potter movie marathon, and since my parents own most of them, it would be easy to watch them whenever and I'd only have to rent or buy the last two or three. I don't own all of the books so I haven't read them but maybe for Christmas someone will buy me all of the books and movies. (*HINT HINT*) My boyfriend said he would watch them all with me so we started from the first movie and we'll watch Chamber of Secrets sometime soon. :)

 

 

It's so weird watching the first movie and seeing how young they are. I have also noticed the CGI a lot more in the movie. It looks good but you can tell it's CGI. I still enjoyed the movie very much and I'm glad that Tyler watched it with me. This movie brings back a lot of good memories. I will always love Harry Potter. I recommend the entire movie collection!

 

 

Hopefully I'll be able to get all of the books and talk about them as well. I know Harry Potter is old but this is my blog and I can throwback if I want to.

Book Of The Week Wednesday! Hollow City

Hollow City

(Second book to Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children)

 

Hollow City is the sequel to the novel Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. I have a post about it Here if you haven't read it already.

 

Hollow City is about Jacob and his peculiar friends trying to get to London to save their headmistress, Miss Peregrine from staying a bird forever. They have to survive all kinds of dangers including bombs, hollows, and wights.

 

 

Here are some of the characters in this book.

 

My favorite characters are Millard, Hugh, and Bronwyn.

Millard is invisible, Hugh has bees living in his stomach that he can control, and Bronwyn is extremely strong but also very caring.

Hollow City made me feel like I was reading multiple books because the children go to many different places and have mini adventures in their journey to London. I really liked this book. I thought it was really good and I loved the ending. It has a really good twist close to the end of the book. (I love twists!) I don't like Jacob or Emma though. I feel like they think that Jacob is the coolest person ever just because he can see hollows and is lucky enough to kill them sometimes. (WITH the help of the other peculiar children.) I like that they can work together and help each other out with their different peculiarities. I don't like Emma because she's pretty much leading Jacob on. She was also Jacob's grandfather's love interest for a while. (Sloppy seconds from your grandpa doesn't sound too good.) But she wants Jacob to stay and then she wants him to leave, she needs to make up her mind. Jacob only stayed because of her but she just gives him mixed signals. Miss Peregrine was also making me mad but you'll understand when you read the book.

 

*If you've read the first one you'll probably read this one too! There is also a 3rd book on the way and a movie! I've read that they are going to turn Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children into a movie, which will be directed by the amazing Tim Burton! I'm curious to see how they will do everything. IMDB says that the movie will come out July 2015 in the USA. Mark your calendars!*

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

 

I received Hollow City for my birthday (March 29th) which is the second book to Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I read Miss Peregrine's a few years ago, so I decided to read it again before I read the second book. Miss Peregrine's is about a sixteen-year-old boy that goes to a remote island to find an abandoned orphanage to figure out what his grandfather meant by (*semi-spoiler alert*) his dying words.

 

Miss Peregrine's is filled with haunting vintage photographs throughout the book that go along with the story. I think they're really cool and creepy. They were the reason why I bought the book in the first place, but I ended up liking the story as well. :)

It's really hard for me to buy books even though I love reading. I'm always scared to buy books, then end up never finishing them because I don't like them. I've only ever bought books that I knew I would like or that I fell in love with at the store. This is one of the books that I just fell in love with because I liked the pictures so much.

 

I don't think I've read enough books or know enough about writing books to be able to give this book a review, but I don't have any big complaints. I found out there was a second book recently and I wanted it, so I'm going to guess that I liked the first book. Even if you don't like the story, you still have creepy cool photos to look at. I really like she size/shape of the book as well as the paper on the insides and the outside (hard back) of the book. (Without the paper cover.)

 

I've always wanted a huge bookshelf with a lot of books. I'm not a kindle type of person, so it definitely matters to me what the book looks like. If the book isn't attractive to me then I probably won't go look at it unless I know that I'll like the story. I think I would recommend this to y'all. So go check it out if it interests you! :)

How To Sew A Skirt

How To Sew A Skirt

What you need:

A sewing machine. (Mine is a Vivo Singer)

1 yard of material. (Depending on your size)

Elastic. (Any size/color you want)

Scissors.

Pins.

 

 

 Step 1:
Unfold your material completely to one layer.
Fold over Hamburger style or whichever way you want your material to be.
The top is going to be the top and the bottom is going to be the bottom.

Cut the fold.

 

 When you separate your layers they should look like this.

 
Put one side over the other side. Right sides facing each other.

 

Step 2: 

Pin the sides of the two pieces together

 

Step 3:
Sew both sides.

 

 

Both sides will look like this!

 You'll be able to open the top and bottom.

 

 This is what the sides would be like.
Inside.

  Outside.

Step 4:

Decide what you want to be the bottom.

 

Fold up the material as much as you want for the hem.

 

Pin all around.

 Sew the hem all the way around

 Inside.

Outside.

Step 5:
Pick out an elastic

I picked the thinner elastic.
Cut it a little bit smaller than your waist or hip size.

 Fold over the top of the skirt like the bottom.

 

 Make sure the waistband is wide enough to hold the elastic

Pin it.

 

 Make sure you leave a part open to put the elastic through.

This is how it should look.

Step 6:
Put the elastic through.

It takes a while.

Whenever you're done, put the two sides together and hand sew them.
(Make sure the elastic isn't twisted)

 

 When you're done, you can just sew down the material. (Make sure you don't sew down the elastic)

Turn it right side out and you're done!

I thought it was a little too long so I decided to shorten it.

Just cut straight across the bottom however short you want it.
(Remember to keep extra length to hem it)
